BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, December 9. Kyrgyzstan's electricity imports in 2023 will reach 3.2 billion kWh, the country's Minister of Energy Taalaibek Ibraev said at a press conference, Trend reports.
He mentioned agreements have been reached for imports from Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and Russia.
He further informed that the power grid of National Electrical Grid of Kyrgyzstan OJSC, which brings electrical energy to customers throughout the country, received 10.671 billion kWh of electricity from January and October of the current year. This marks an increase of 871.1 million kWh or 8.3 percent compared to the same period in 2022 (9.800 billion kWh).
As of November 1, 2023, the number of electricity consumers in Kyrgyzstan reached 1,549,579 (1,440,633 households and 108,946 non-domestic consumers), which is an increase of 25,262 consumers since the beginning of the year, according to the minister.
According to the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the country imported 2.104 billion kWh of electricity from January through September 2023, which is a 0.9-percent increase compared to the same period in 2022 (2.085 billion kWh).
The total value of these imports amounted to $57.052 million, marking a 9.4-percent increase compared to $52.136 million in the same period of 2022.
