Kyrgyzstan notes decline in import of iron ores and concentrates

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, January 7. Kyrgyzstan imported 32,203 tons of iron ores and concentrates valued at $1.402 million from January through October 2023, Trend reports.

Data from Kyrgyzstan’s State Statistical Committee indicates a 34-percent decrease in import volume compared to the same period in 2022 (49,365 tons). The import's overall value dropped by 27 percent compared to the same time of 2022 ($1.929 million).

During this reporting period, Kyrgyzstan primarily imported iron ores and concentrates from Kazakhstan, amounting to 31,503 tons, which is a 36-percent decrease compared to the same period in 2022 (49,363 tons). The value of these imports totaled $1.289 million, declining by 34 percent compared to the same months in 2022 ($1.929 million).

Additionally, Kyrgyzstan imported 700 tons of iron ores and concentrates from Russia from January through October 2023, valued at $113,000. There were no imports of iron ores from Russia during the same ten months of 2022.

Kyrgyzstan’s foreign trade turnover amounted to $12.297 billion from January through October 2023, which is a 24.9-percent increase compared to the same period of 2022 ($9.845 billion).

Exports from Kyrgyzstan reached $2.443 billion during the 10 months, which is 29.6 percent higher than $1.885 billion recorded from January through October 2022. Imports into Kyrgyzstan amounted to $9.854 billion during this period, increasing by 23.8 percent compared to the same period in 2022 ($7.959 billion).
