Kyrgyzstan records decline in remittances via Russia's Zolotaya Korona

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, April 19. Kyrgyzstan recorded a total of 389,900 incoming money transfers through the Russian Zolotaya Korona (Golden Crown) money transfer system from October through December 2023, Trend reports.

According to the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan, this figure decreased by 4.7 times compared to the same period in 2022 (1.848 million transfers). The value of incoming transfers amounted to 14.4 billion soms ($161.788 million) in the last quarter of 2023.

Additionally, 91,500 outgoing transactions were conducted via Zolotaya Korona, which is a 45.5 percent decrease compared to the same months of 2022, which registered 168,000 transactions. The total value of outgoing transfers in the last quarter of 2023 summed up to 7.084 billion soms ($79.590 million).

In Kyrgyzstan, a total of 1.815 million incoming transactions were made via money transfer systems during the reporting period, with the value amounting to 48.201 billion soms ($540.854 million). Outgoing transfers numbered 151,400 and were valued at 11.728 billion soms ($131.597 million).

The following money transfer systems have been operating in Kyrgyzstan in the last quarter of 2023: Western Union, Contact, MoneyGram, Unistream, Zolotaya Korona, RIA, UPT, Astrasend, and PLUSPAY.
