ADB's $100M grant aims to help stabilize Tajikistan's banking sector

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 5. Asian Development Bank (ADB) provided $100 million in two grant programs in 2022 which to the Government of Tajikistan to help stabilize the banking sector, boost the non-banking finance sector, and strengthen fiscal management, Trend reports with reference to the Member Fact Sheet of ADB.

The programs will also assist in strengthening social protection in Tajikistan, ensuring food security, and promoting businesses in the country, the report said.

According to the bank, the current sovereign portfolio of ADB in Tajikistan contains 2 loans and 22 grants worth $1.06 billion.

ADB provided grants for a total of $212.2 million to Tajikistan in 2022, technical assistance for $7.09 million and $900,000 in the frame of Trade and Supply Chain Finance Program.

Asian Development Bank was founded in 1966 and is jointly owned by 68 member countries. Since Tajikistan joined ADB in 1998, the bank has become the country’s largest development partner, with more than $2.4 billion in total assistance.
