Turkmenistan plans to begin basalt fiber production

Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, June 26
By Huseyn Hasanov- Trend:

A feasibility study and project documentation for the construction of factories that will produce basalt fiber is being developed in Turkmenistan, the Neutral Turkmenistan Newspaper reported.

"Basalt fiber for the production of thermal insulation and composite materials with universal physico- mechanical and chemical properties will be developed from domestic raw materials in the coming years," the article said.

Armatures, channels, griders can ben produced from basalt fibers , which will replace the metal ones. The insulating materials are needed in the oil and gas industry, for insulation of pipelines, pipe production, road construction.

The prototypes models of the superfine fibers were obtained by local experts from rocks types identified in the fields of Balkan velayat (region).

The article also said that given the country's existing prices for gas and electricity, the cost of production of basalt continuous filament (BCF) can be much lower than world prices.

The use of local raw materials will ensure construction industry road construction, and the energy sector with these materials.
