BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 14. A delegation from Turkmenistan took part in a regional conference on "Harnessing the potential of e-commerce in Central Asia", which was held in Dubai (UAE), Trend reports with reference to the Turkmen media.

The event, organized by the Ready4Trade Central Asia project of the International Trade Center (ITC), brought together officials and business representatives from Central Asian countries to discuss ways to expand regional cooperation in the field of electronic commerce, explore potential areas of interaction between the public and private sectors.

At the conference, the EU Ambassador to the UAE, Andrea Matteo Fontana, noted that e-commerce is a powerful engine for expanding trade and economic growth. It promotes the development of a competitive private sector and the creation of a healthy and open investment environment. In this regard, this project, funded by the EU, contributes to the simplification and harmonization of customs procedures, as well as the development of cross-border electronic commerce.

The e-commerce industry in Central Asia is developing rapidly. According to the analytical company IMARC Group, in 2022 the volume of the e-commerce market in Central Asia reached $8 billion. The combined annual growth rate of e-commerce is expected to be 25.4 percent over the next five years.
