Turkmen President, Iranian Ambassador satisfied with development of bilateral partnership

(Turkmenistan.ru) - Turkmenistan's president Saparmurat Niyazov received the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Gholamreza Ansari, who has completed his diplomatic mission to Turkmenistan, reports Trend.

As the Ashgabat correspondent of Turkmenistan.ru reports referring to the State news agency (TDH), the current state and prospects for interstate relations were discussed during the meeting. The sides emphasized the high level of bilateral cooperation between the two countries which is based on the principles of friendship, good neighborliness and mutually beneficial cooperation. The sides particularly stressed the importance of inauguration of the Dostluk dam-reservoir on the Turkmen-Iranian border.

At present, the two states have close trade-economic relations. The trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Iran has exceeded US $ 1,5 bln this year. The friendly countries are connected by the modern highway, railroad and electricity transmission line.

During the discussion of the prospects for deepening and expanding the bilateral partnership, the sides underlined that Turkmenistan and Iran have huge potential for cooperation.

The head of Turkmenistan highly estimated the work of the outgoing ambassador who, in Saparmurat Niyazov's words, has made a significant contribution to strengthening the Turkmen-Iranian relations. The Turkmen President particularly thanked the diplomat for boosting cultural exchanges.

In turn, Gholamreza Ansari, thanked the president for support and help for the Iranian Embassy and assured the president that he would continue doing his best for development of the fruitful dialog between the two countries.
