Growth of prices for potatoes is observed in Uzbekistan, Trend reports citing Uzbek Media
Over the last week from October 14 to October 21, 2021 prices of potatoes sold in Uzbekistan increased by 43 percent . The average wholesale prices for potatoes in the country increased from 3,500 soums ($0.33) to 5,000 soums ($0.47) per kilogram.
The current prices of potatoes are 39 percent higher compared to the same period last year. In order to prevent further growth in prices for potatoes, the Uzbek authorities decided to exempt the product from VAT by the end of the year. After VAT exemption, the budget of Uzbekistan will lose up to $10 million.
