Uzbekistan, Turkey strike deal to co-op on thermal power production

Tashkent Combined Heat and Power (CHP) JSC signed an agreement with the Turkish Çalik energy company on implementation of an investment project at the thermal power plant in Uzbekistan, Trend reports via JSC Thermal Electric Stations.

According to the agreement, two gas turbine units will be built at the power plant by 2024, each with a capacity of 32 MW.

The total cost of the project is $109.2 million, of which $81 million is the funded by the Japanese agency JICA, $15.4 million is CHP funds, $12.7 million is the contribution of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The implementation of this project will lead to an increase in generating capacities at the Tashkent CHP plant, as a result, the enterprise will additionally generate 515.6 million kWh of electricity and 690,300 Gcal of thermal energy per year.
