BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 1. Uzbekistan will provide benefits on taxes for individuals and legal entities, who installed in their properties renewable energy resources with a total capacity of 100 kW, as the authorities are looking to boost the development of renewables countrywide, Trend reports via Uzbekistan’s Energy Ministry.

According to the ministry, from April 1, 2023, individuals and legal entities, who have installed renewables with mentioned criteria, for 3 years, are exempt from paying the following taxes:

- property tax on renewable energy installations;

- the land tax on plots occupied by renewables;

- income tax charged on profits for electricity sold by legal entities for the common network.

Ministry’s message notes those who have installed an electricity storage system with a capacity of at least 25 percent of the installed capacity of solar panels are exempt from the payment of taxes for 10 years.

Back in March 2023, Uzbekistan launched the “Sunny House" program, which is aimed at encouraging the installation of low-power solar panels on the roofs of residential buildings.

According to the program, solar panels with a total capacity of 182.1 MW will be installed on the roofs of 36,600 residential buildings countrywide.
