BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 24. The trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan from January through March 2023 amounted to $149.6 million, which is 15.6 percent more than in the same period last year ($129.3 million), Trend reports via the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan in the reporting period exported to Tajikistan goods and services worth $125.4 million, increasing by 22.1 percent year-on-year (in 3M2023 – $102.7 million).

During the first quarter, Uzbekistan's imports from Tajikistan decreased by 9 percent and amounted to $24.2 million, compared to $26.6 million during the same period in 2022.

From January to March 2023, Tajikistan imported from Uzbekistan some 3,800 tons of fruit and vegetables worth $1.6 million, and textile products worth $11.5 million.

In 2022, Tajikistan's trade turnover with Uzbekistan reached $674.4 million, which is an increase of 11.3 percent, compared to the figure for 2021 ($605.6 million).

Tajikistan, during this period, exported to Uzbekistan some 965,280 tons of cement for $29.7 million, as well as electricity ($33.4 million), aluminum ($31.4 million), cotton fiber ($17.4 million), as well as 29,602 tons of zinc ores and concentrates worth $30.8 million, etc.

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover during the first three months of 2023 as a whole exceeded $14.7 billion, increasing by 11.3 percent, or $1.5 billion compared to the same period last year.
