Türkiye’s Cengiz Enerji, Uzbekistan strike major investment agreement for CCGT plant construction

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 28. Turkish Cengiz Enerji company and the Uzbek Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade have signed an investment agreement worth $300 million for the construction of a 400 MW combined cycle power plant (CCGT ) in the Jizzakh region of Uzbekistan, Trend reports via Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade.

The relevant agreement was signed within the second Tashkent International Investment Forum (ТIIF-2023), which is aimed to attract big foreign investment, financial and economic organizations, and companies interested in integrating into the dynamically developing market of Uzbekistan.

The idea of building this plant was discussed in March 2023, at the meeting between Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade Laziz Kudratov, and the Executive Director of the company Ahmet Cengiz.

As it was previously reported, the launching of the new plant will allow the saving of 286 million cubic meters of gas per year, which in monetary terms is equal to $103 million.

Furthermore, in November 2022, Cengiz Enerji put into operation a thermal power plant in the Khavast district of Uzbekistan’s Sirdorya region. The capacity of the TPP is 220 MW, which will generate some 1.7 billion kWh of electricity per year.
