Uzbekistan expanding agricultural capacities of Andijan region

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, October 13. A project for creation of modern cherry, blueberry and raspberry plantations with a total area of 190 hectares is being implemented in the Pakhtaabad district of Uzbekistan’s Andijan region, Trend reports.

As per Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Agriculture, an intensive cherry orchard on 145 hectares, a blueberry plantation on 25 hectares and a raspberry plantation on 20 hectares are being laid using Spanish and Italian seedlings.

Moreover, construction and installation work is currently underway to launch a refrigeration room with an area of 4,400 square meters and a total capacity of 6,000 tons of products on the territory of the enterprise for post-harvest refinement of grown products with an annual capacity of 50,000 tons, located near these plantations.

The ministry said that implementation of this project will create 2,000 permanent and seasonal jobs.

Meanwhile, the largest project in Uzbekistan’s Andijan region for creation of a modern complex of light greenhouses of the Nethouse type was implemented during the same period last year. Furthermore, a raspberry plantation with an area of 1 hectare was created, using seedlings from Spain.

As of October 2022, a raspberry harvest of 4 tons has already been obtained, and this season it is planned to receive 15-20 tons of raspberries from the same plantation.
