TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, May 30. Uzbekistan's mining and quarrying enterprises manufactured products in the amount of 21.6 trillion soums ($1.6 billion) from January through April 2024, Trend reports.
According to the data from Uzbekistan's Statistics Agency, this indicator has increased by 22.7 percent compared to the same period last year (17.6 trillion soums, or $1.3 billion in January-April 2023).
The volume of products manufactured in Uzbekistan's mining and quarrying industry reached 9.5 percent of the total industry volume.
Among Uzbek regions, the biggest production volume was noted in the city of Tashkent (7.5 trillion soums, or $590.1 million). Navoi region ranked second with a production volume worth 5.1 trillion soums ($401.3 million), followed by Tashkent region with 1.3 trillion soums ($102.2 million). The smallest production volume was noted in the Khorezm region (8 million soums, or $629) during this period.
Meanwhile, according to preliminary data, Uzbekistan's enterprises manufactured industrial products worth 227.8 trillion soums ($17.8 billion) from January through April 2024. This figure is 27.2 percent higher year-on-year (179 trillion soums, or $14 billion in January–April 2024).
In the structure of production, the largest specific weight falls on the enterprises of the manufacturing industry, the output of which amounted to 184 trillion soums ($14.4 billion). The mining and quarrying industry ranks second with a production volume worth 21.6 trillion soums ($1.69 billion) during this period. Uzbekistan’s electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply production reached 20.8 trillion soums ($1.62 billion), while water supply, sewerage, waste collection, and utilization totaled 1.4 trillion soums ($109.6 million).
