Iranian oil and gas company evacuates workers from Libya

The Iranian National Oil and Gas Company has suspended its work in Libya and will evacuate workers to Iran within 48 hours, the Mehr news agency reported.

According to the information, no Iranians have been injured or killed in the violence that has spread across the country in recent days.

Iran is engaged in drilling three gas wells in Libya and 35 wells have been drilled so far.

Mass protests have continued against President Muammar Gaddafi's regime from Feb.15. Demonstrations are covering new areas of the country every day. The authorities are severely suppressing the public discontent. According to eyewitnesses, a military aircraft was used this week to disperse demonstrations in Tripoli and Benghazi. According to international human rights organizations, more than 500 people have died and 4,000 have been wounded.
