Samsung condemns the Israeli spoof commercial related to Iran

Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb. 4 / Trend S.Isayev, T. Jafarov/

Samsung has released a statement condemning the production of the commercial by the firm's Israeli branch, with Samsung's Tehran office saying that the spot had nothing to do with the firm and that it had been produced by another company, CBS reported.

Several days ago a Samsung Galaxy commercial was released online, featuring a rendezvous of Israeli Mossad agents at a cafe near what appears to be an Iranian nuclear facility. One of the agents, who was passing the time at a table with a Samsung tablet, shows off the machine's features to his comrades - all dressed as women - when he inadvertently pushes a button that triggers an explosion at the nuclear plant.

The commercial caused big outrage in Iran, and Iran's parliament said it will consider the draft bill on banning the products of Samsung in the country because of the teaser.

Iranian parliamentary, a member of country's economic commission, Ali Mousavi said that the clip is "insulting for Iranian people, and is anti-Iranian propaganda from Samsung".

Another Iranian lawmaker said Iran's parliament was considering to cut the country's trade ties with the country, over what he said was a depiction of Iran as a "primitive society" and of insinuating that Israel was "powerful enough to easily destroy Iran's nuclear facilities or assassinate the country's nuclear scientists."

In response to Iran's claims, Samsung said it was not involved in the production of the television spot and condemned it.
