Secretary of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council, Saeed Jalili left Tehran for Syria on Feb.2, Mehr News Agency reported.
According to the report, Jalili will meet with Syrian officials. The goal of the visit is has not made public officially, but Iranian media outlets linked the visit with Israeli airplanes' strike on a Syrian "military research center".
Syria Army released statement on Jan.30 saying that Israel airplanes bombed a military research center in northern region, but according to reports, Syrian rebels and Western diplomats say the strike carried out over an arms convoy that was carrying weapons from Syria to its ally Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Syrian Army says the strike left two dead and five injured people.
Syria and its closest ally Iran threated Israel, saying that Tel-Aviv should wait for a strong retaliation.
