Iran, India underline peaceful settlement of Syria crisis

Iran and India, in a joint press statement, expressed deep concern over continuation of violence in Syria and called for stopping it by both sides and settling problem in a peaceful manner through consultations.

Iran and India, in a joint press statement, expressed deep concern over continuation of violence in Syria and called for stopping it by both sides and settling problem in a peaceful manner through consultations, IRNA reported.

According to the report of Foreign Ministry Media Department, the 17th joint economic commission meeting was headed by Iran and India foreign ministers Ali Akbar Salehi and Salman Khurshid in Tehran.

During his stay in Tehran, Salman Khurshid met with President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani and advisor to the Supreme Leader Ali Akbar Velayati.

The two sides also supported Geneva declaration including the six-stage plan by Kofi Annan, the former UN Secretary General representative in Syria, and welcomed the efforts of UN new representative in Syrian affairs Lakdar Brahimi.

The two senior diplomats also signed four Memoranda of Understanding.
