BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 8. The export of non-oil products from Iran's Khuzestan Province, located in the southwestern part of the country, amounted to 20.2 million tons worth $5.8 billion in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024), the controller of customs of Iran's Khuzestan Province, Behrouz Gharabeigi said, Trend reports.
According to him, last Iranian year, non-oil products exported from Khuzestan province decreased in value by 16 percent and increased in weight by 17 percent compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2022, through March 2023).
Gharabeigi added that the decline in the value of non-oil exports was mainly affected by the depreciation of petrochemical products in world markets.
He noted that 16.7 million tons of products worth $9.63 billion were imported to Iran's Khuzestan Province last year. Imports of the products decreased by 5 percent in value and 1 percent in weight compared to the same period of the previous year.
The official stated that last year, revenues from Khuzestan customs amounted to about 195 trillion rials (about $4.63 billion). This is 68 percent higher compared to the previous year.
Meanwhile, according to the statistics of the Iranian Customs Administration, the country's exports of non-oil products in the last Iranian year amounted to more than 136 million tons worth $49.3 billion. Compared to the previous year, Iran's non-oil exports decreased by 8.87 percent in value terms and increased by 9.82 percent in weight terms.
To note, according to the statistics of Iran's Customs Administration, the country's product imports in the last Iranian year amounted to 39 million tons worth approximately $66.3 billion. The import of products increased by 9.77 percent in value and 4.39 percent in weight compared to the previous year.
