Iran monitors rise in tea imports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 30. Iran's tea imports during two months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through May 20, 2024) increased by 8.6 percent in value terms and 45.6 percent in weight terms compared to the same period last year (from March 21 through May 21, 2023), the statistics of Iran's Customs Administration said, Trend reports.

Meanwhile, 7,430 tons of tea worth $37 million were imported to Iran during the past two months.

However, 5.1 million tons of tea worth $34 million were imported to Iran last year.

Additionally, it should be noted that Iranian officials have recently stated that tea imports into the country have been restricted. Iran's tea imports are expected to decrease in the coming months.

To note, according to the statistics of Iran's Customs Administration, 5.84 million tons of products worth about $9.08 billion were imported to Iran within 2 months. Imports of non-oil products to Iran increased by 9.19 percent in value terms and 13.3 percent in weight terms compared to the same period last year.
