(zaman) - Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki arrived in the Turkish capital of Ankara to pay an official visit to Turkey following the cancellation of his visit a month ago.
Visiting Prime Minister Maliki was welcomed in Ankara by Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan with an official ceremony, reports Trend.

The Iraqi delegation accompanying Maliki included Iraqi FM Hoshyar Zebari and Iraq's special envoy on terrorism Shirwan al Waili.

A joint press conference will be held following the meeting of the two leaders. The Iraqi premier will also be received by Parliament Speaker Bulent Arinc later today; however, he is not scheduled to have a meeting with President Ahmet Necdet Sezer.

Security problems in Iraq, the economy, the activities of the outlawed PKK and water resources in the region are expected to be the main points discussed during the meetings.

Maliki was scheduled to arrive in Turkey for an official visit last month; however, his trip to Ankara was cancelled at the last minute because of a strong sandstorm around the airport in Baghdad.
