Iran's South Pars gas field phase 19 started injecting refined gas into the cross-country gas grid, Hamid Reza Masoudi, operator of the phase said.

Some five million cubic meters of refined gas from the SPD2 platform of the phase is being injected to the national network daily, Masoudi said, IRNA news agency reported May 11.

He further said that the output capacity of the platform will reach 14 million cubic meters per day in the near future.

It is expected that SPD19C platform of the phase 19 of South Pars to become operational in coming days which will be resulted with 28 million cubic meters of sweet gas production, equal to output of one standard phase of the gas field, Masoudi noted.

He further said that SPD19A platform of the phase will be installed by December, adding once the platform becomes operational the total output of the phase 19 will reach 40 million cubic meters of gas per day.

According to statistics, each standard phase of the gas field will produce around 8 billion cubic meters of gas per year, valued at $2 billion.
South Pars, located in southern region, is divided into 24 development phases, and contains 40 trillion cubic meters of natural gas.

It covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, 3,700 square kilometers of which are in Iran's territorial waters in the Persian Gulf. The remaining 6,000 square kilometers are situated in Qatar's territorial waters.

The Islamic Republic is producing over 420 million cubic meters per day (mcm/d) of gas from South Pars, while the production level is projected to surpass 700 mcm/d by late 2018.
