Iran’s South Pars platform 21 has come on stream, Alireza Ebadi, operator of phase 20 and 21 projects of the gas field, said, SHANA news agency reported.

Through the platform, a daily gas supply of 28.3 million cubic meters will go into the cross-country distribution network.

The start-up operation of the 2,700 tons platform started after the well No.1 of the platform became operational, Ebadi said, adding that the extracted gas will be sent onshore refinery of the phase soon.

Phases 20 and 21 are meant to reach an output of 57 million cubic meters(mcm) of gas and 80 thousand barrels of gas condensates per day.

Together, the two phases will also yield 400 tons of sulfur, 1.05 million tons of liquefied gas, and one million tons of ethane per year.

Currently Iran’s total gas production stands at 750 mcm/d. The figure is expected to reach 1,000 mcm/d by March 2018 and 1,260 mcm/d by 2021.
