The annual volume of smuggled goods into Iran has dropped by almost 74 percent.
Iranian Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani-Fazli has said that the value of smuggled goods into the country has dropped to $11.5 billion, state-run IRINN TV reported.
This is while the figure in the preceding years stood at $20 billion, the minister added.
Abdolreza Rahmani-Fazli who visited southern province of Hormozgan for unveiling new customs equipment, urged for putting in constant efforts to bring down the figure to zero.
The Iranian Minister of Industry, Mine, and Trade Mohammad Shariatmadari last year said that about 90 percent of foreign goods offered in the Iranian market have been smuggled into the country.
