An Iranian lawmaker said the launch of Garmsar–Incheboron electric railway could help Russia enhance its national and international relations.
The 495-kilometer Garmsar–Incheboron electric railway, which links Garmsar in the north-central province of Semnan to Incheboron in the northeastern province of Golestan, will strengthen national and international communications with Russia, Gholamreza Kateb said, Mehr news agency reported on October 14.
He added that the launch of the Garmsar–Incheboron railway is a top priority for the government and we are pursuing it.
The €1.2-billion project for electrification of Garmsar–Incheboron railway in Iran was officially inaugurated on July 3.
The project covers 32 stations and 95 tunnels, 7 traction substations, 11 section pillars, 6 duty posts of the contact station and power supply administration building.
Russia financed the project as part of its $5 billion credit line for infrastructure projects in Iran.
