The car prices in Iran have decreased as a result of decrease in foreign exchange market, Head of Tehran Auto Dealers Association Saeed Motemani said in an interview with Mizan news agency.

However, because of still high prices, there is stagnation in the car market, he said.

Motemani added that there are changes in the car prices due to instability in the foreign exchange market.

As for the local cars, car plants put up very few cars for sale, he stressed.

Motemani said that customers are expecting a decline in car prices and no one is currently buying anything. He added that the price of the assembled cars decreased by about $3,000-9,000 after the US dollar collapse.

The price of local cars has decreased by about $500-3000, Motemani said, adding that Chinese companies currently control the situation in the market.

Previously, Chinese cars were sold at a minimum price, he added.
