Trend:

Iranian Deputy Transport Minister Kheirollah Khademi announced that the government is making efforts to complete the Miyaneh-Ardabil railway by the end of the current Iranian year (ends on March 21, 2022), Trend reports via Mehr News Agency.

Khademi noted that the physical progress of the project is ongoing.

"Nearly 68 kilometers of the route have been laid, some 110 kilometers still remain," he said.

The official also pointed out that a contract was signed with new contractors to complete the construction of the route.

Khademi called the provision of rails 'a critical issue'.

“If we want to finish the project on time by the end of the current Iranian year (ends on March 21, 2022), the rails should be provided by the Railway Company of Iran,” he noted.

“So far, nearly $619 million have been spent on this project in different years,” he said, adding that the updated value of the costs is equal to $1.7 billion.

“Providing rails requires over $404 million,” he said adding that other than the rails, the project needs $309 million of credit.
