By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham has rejected claims of some U.S. officials about Iran's destabilizing actions in the region, saying that such claims are baseless.

Instability in the region is rooted in foreign intervention, Afkham said, adding that it has not only endangered security and stability in the region, but also it has hindered interaction and cooperation among regional countries, Iran's IRIB reported May 12.

US Secretary of State John Kerry said in March that the administration was committed to standing up to Iran's "intervention."

"We will not take our eye off of Iran's other destabilizing actions," he added.

Afkham said that the US support of Saudi Arabia to launch military attacks in Yemen is a sort of illegal intervention in internal affairs of other countries. She said that the US follows a double-standard approach toward terrorism.

Supporting governments, which are among the main sponsors of terrorism, has destabilized the region, she noted
