A debate on Russia's recent elections will be held at the PACE meeting on Thursday attended by the Georgian delegation led by parliamentary majority leader Petre Tsiskarishvili.

The issue of holding a debate on Russia was discussed in Strasbourg on Wednesday before the parliamentary session at the meeting of the Bureau.

Prior to the debate, a special report prepared by a delegation of the Council of Europe regarding parliamentary elections in Russia held on Dec.4, will be made at the meeting where Leonid Slutsky will represent Russia.

According to the Georgian Parliamentary Foreign Relations Committee Chairman, Akaki Minashvili, the debate at PACE is a sign of response "of the world and in partiuclar Europe, due to the fact that no one can tolerate such elections which were held in Russia.

"This is political pressure on Russia before the presidential elections and is supporting the protest of the Russian people," Mr Minashvili said.
