Prime Minister of Georgia Bidzina Ivanishvili visited the National Defence Academy named after David the Builder and met with students.

Prime Minister congratulated them on the occasion of Nikolozoba (Orthodox holiday, Memorial Day of St. Nicholas) and spoke about the reforms planned by government in the field of defense and security. He emphasized the importance of military education and noted the priorities in this area. According to Ivanishvili, a country must be protected by educated army.

"One of the priorities of the new government is education. It is symbolic that in the field of education I decided to visit your Academy first. To succeed, we must have an educated society. Our country, our people must be protected by an educated army," - the Prime Minister said.

Bidzina Ivanishvili was accompanied by Minister of Defense Irakli Alasania and Education Minister George Margvelashvili. They inspected the infrastructure of the academy and got acquainted with the living conditions of the students. The role of a guide was assumed by Academy Vice Commandant Col. Nikoloz Agladze.

One of the priorities of the Ministry of Defence today is to have an educated, intelligent and thoughtful army. It is grateful that the Defence Academy was visited today by the Prime Minister. We have plenty of great opportunities to provide our students with good education. The military will not be limited in professional development and will be able to get serious civic education, - Minister of Defense Irakli Alasania said.
