Georgia observes increase in average monthly salaries

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 18. The average monthly nominal earnings of employees in Georgia in the fourth quarter of 2021 increased by 11.3 percent or by 149 Georgian lari ($46.5), compared to the same period of 2020, and amounted to 1,463 Georgian lari ($457), Trend reports via the National Statistics Office (Geostat).

The highest monthly earnings in Georgia in the fourth quarter of 2021 were observed in the following sectors (compared to the same period of 2020):

Financial and insurance activities – 2,431 Georgian lari ($759.6) – 20.5-percent increase;

Information and communication – 2,270 Georgian lari ($709.3) – 3.2-percent increase;

Construction – 2,290 Georgian lari ($715.6) – 7.2-percent increase;

Professional, scientific and technical activities – 2,133 Georgian lari ($666.5) – 5.5-percent increase.

The average monthly salary for women in the reporting period of 2021 was set at 1,153 Georgian lari ($360.3) and 1,767 Georgian lari ($552) for men.

The annual wage growth was for women's salaries was 12.8 percent and 11.8 percent for men. In the majority of sectors of the economic activities, the average monthly earnings of men were higher compared to women, Geostat said.

The average monthly salary in the business sector in the reporting period of 2021 has increased by 12.8 percent to 1,597 Georgian lari ($499). According to the types of activities, the highest salaries are recorded in the Arts, entertainment, and recreation (2,502 Georgian lari ($781.8) – 18.4 percent increase) as well as in professional, scientific and technical activities (2,394 Georgian lari ($748) – 3.2 percent increase).

The average monthly salary in the non-profit and financial sector in the reporting period of 2021 increased by 8.1 percent, compared to the same quarter of 2020, and amounted to 1,250 Georgian lari ($390.6).

According to the economic activity, the highest monthly earnings were observed in the Financial and insurance activities, Geostat said.
