Japan donates necessary equipment for Georgia’s agriculture sector development

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 2. Japan has donated vehicles fitted with modern laboratory equipment to Georgia’s Rural Development Agency, Trend reports via the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia.

This became known at the meeting between the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Otar Shamugia, with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Georgia Imamura Akira, and the Resident Representative of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Georgia Hiroyuki Mori.

The Japanese side expressed readiness to further assist Georgia in developing its agriculture sector. Ambassador Akira noted the great potential of Georgia’s production on the international market.

The vehicles will help increase Georgia’s production quality and, consequently, diversify the export markets, JICA representative added.

The equipment will enable the employees of the regional services of the Rural Development Agency to provide extension services to the farmers on the agricultural lands, Shamugia said.
