Clashes between pro- and anti- government protests in Cairo
Clashes erupted Wednesday in Cairo's central Tahrir square between members of the opposition and protesters rallying to support embattled President Hosny Mubarak, DPA reported.
Supporters of the president marched towards the square, which has been the base of opposition demonstrators, and clashes soon broke out between the sides at one end of the square, witnesses told the German Press Agency dpa.
Several people were injured, according to initial reports.
Broadcaster al-Arabiya said several of its journalists were attacked, and their equipment broken by pro-government protesters. Members of foreign media also said they were roughed up.
