Ten people Israel detained on board a yacht heading to the Gaza Strip will be flown out the country Wednesday, a spokeswoman for the Israeli Immigration Authoroity said, DPA reported.

Sabine Hadad said five of the 16 people on board the French yacht boarded by Israeli navy commandoes on Tuesday have already been deported. The 16th person on board was an Israeli journaliast, Amira Hass.

The Israel Navy intercepted the yacht, the Dignite/Karame, outside territorial waters.

After the captain refused an Israeli demand to alter course for the port of Ashdod, 35 kilometres north of Gaza City, commandos baorded and the vessel was taken to the Israeli port.

The Dignite was part of a a 10-ship flotilla which hoped to breach Israel's maritime blockade of the salient. However, intense pressure by Israel saw Athens prevent most of the ships from leaving Greek Ports.

The Dignite had left Corsica last month, and on Satruday night slkipped away from the Greek Island of Kastellorizo, hoping to reach Gaza by late Tuesday.
