Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas was to meet with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon Monday to discuss his application for full United Nations membership and the recognition of a Palestine state, dpa reported.
Abbas was to meet Ban alone at the secretary general's office in UN headquarters in New York. Abbas said in Ramallah last week that he intended to hand over an application for full UN membership during this week's UN visit.
