Michelle Pfeiffer happy about younger leading men

Hollywood actress Michelle Pfeiffer does not complain about having younger men cast in the role of her leading men, dpa reported.

"My leading men get younger the older I get," said the 50-year-old actress, adding that there seems to be an aversion to casting her with men her age.

"Lucky for me, I don't really mind it," she said.

Pfeiffer was speaking at a press conference at the Berlin Film Festival marking the world premiere of British director Stephen Frears' Cheri.

In the film, set in Paris at the start of the twentieth century, Pfeiffer plays an older woman - and courtesan - who has an affair with a much younger man, Cheri, played by the 27-year-old British actor Rupert Friend.

Cheri comes about two decades after Pfeiffer teamed up with Frears to make Dangerous Liaisons, which was based on an 18th century French novel. The film also starred John Malkovich and Glenn Close.

Pfeiffer's advice for those gearing for turning 50? The anticipation is often far worse than the actual event.

In the end, she said, it makes you grateful for what you have.
