A British couple was killed in the collapse of a country house, apparently caused by heavy rains, in southern Spain, local officials said Tuesday.
The man and woman, aged 64 and 63 respectively, were visiting another British couple when the room they were in collapsed in Rubite near Granada on Monday, emergency services said, DPA reported.
The owner of the house sustained slight injuries while her husband was treated for shock. The four Britons were living in Spain.
The collapse had probably been caused by a mudslide onto the roof of the building following heavy rains, according to municipal experts.
Flooding on Tuesday disrupted dozens of road links in southern Spain. Several localities near Jaen were due to be evacuated preventatively over the risk of rivers overflowing their banks.
