Eight policemen were killed and a number of others were injured when a police vehicle was blown up in an attack in the Dagestan region in Russia's North Caucasus Thursday, the Interfax news agency reported.

Eight policemen were killed and a number of others were injured when a police vehicle was blown up in an attack in the Dagestan region in Russia's North Caucasus Thursday, the Interfax news agency reported.
  
The blast happened in the Sergokala district of Dagestan, Interfax quoted a local police source as saying, Xinhua reported.
  
"Incoming preliminary information indicates that a vehicle carrying policemen was blown up and was then fired upon. Eight people in the vehicle were killed. A number of others have also been injured and suffered concussion," the police source said.
