Eight people were killed Tuesday at a family- owned beer distribution firm in Manchester, Connecticut after a disgruntled truck driver opened fire at his workplace, then killed himself, dpa reported.
The driver, Omar Thornton, 34, was a "disciplinary problem," who was being brought in by the union to address an unspecified problem, according to the Hartford Courant online newspaper. It cited Teamsters Union official John Hollis as the source of the information.
State police confirmed that people were shot both inside and outside of the building. Thornton then turned his .223-calibre semiautomatic rifle on himself.
