NATO will expand cooperation with the Central Asian countries, primarily in combat against the drug, NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said at a news conference in Lisbon, Rosbalt reported with reference to Euronews.
"We attach a great importance to partnership with the Central Asian countries, primarily to counter the drug threat in Afghanistan," he said.
The Alliance collaborates with the Central Asian countries in the field of transportation of nonmilitary cargo to Afghanistan as part of the antiterrorist Operation Enduring Freedom, as well as under a number of programs such as Partnership for Peace.
