Seven people died when a lightning bolt struck a tent where a kindergarten was holding a Christmas Party in the South African province of KwaZulu-Natal, officials said Saturday.
Some 67 people were injured when the lightning hit Friday afternoon in the town of Pongola, setting fire to the tent, the South African Press Association (SAPA) reported, dpa reported.
Parents, teachers and a two-year-old girl were among the fatalities.
Fourteen people were being treated for severe burns and other injuries at a hospital in Itshelejuba on Saturday.
