A blast at a pharmaceutical factory Friday in a county of central China's Hubei Province has killed four workers and injured five others, said local authorities.
The explosion at around 10:16 a.m. hit a workshop at the privately-run Huanggang Chuangxin Biochemicals Co., Ltd. in Tuanfeng County, Huanggang City, and caused fire, said the county government in a statement, Xinhua reported.
Two workers died at the scene and two died later in hospital, it said. The five injured were still receiving medical treatment.
The fire have been put out by more than 70 fire fighters with the help of 11 fire fighting engines.
Local work safety authorities are checking up for potential safety loopholes and evaluating the blast's impacts on the environment.
The cause of the explosion is under investigation.
