Dutch television reported Monday evening that Dutch-Iranian national Zahra Bahrami who was executed in Iran over the weekend for narco-trafficking, had a previous conviction for smuggling narcotics in the Netherlands, IRNA reported.
In 2003, Bahrami was found guilty of smuggling nearly 16 kilos of cocaine from the Caribbean in her luggage, the Dutch broadcasting network NOS said.
She was sentenced to three years in jail with one being suspended, according to the current affairs show Nieuwsuur.
Meanwhile, the German Press Agency (dpa) reported from The Hague, Bahrami was also found guilty of forging a passport in 2007.
Bahrami was sentenced to death in Iran for smuggling 450 grams of cocaine, 420 grams of opium and selling 150 grams cocaine.
Iran's Ambassador to the Netherlands Kazem Gharib-Abadi had told IRNA on Sunday that Bahrami had not only possessed narcotics at the time of her arrest in Iran but was also having a forged Spanish passport.
