Turkey condemned on Monday the attack on U.S. Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, Anadolu news agency reported.
Giffords was shot on Saturday when an assailant opened fire during her meeting with constituents. Six people were killed in the shooting.
"We strongly condemn the heinous attack against Representative Gabrielle Giffords and her constituents that occurred in Arizona last weekend," Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
"On this very sad occasion, we wish a speedy recovery to Representative Giffords who is struggling for her life and all others who were wounded, and convey our deepest condolences to the bereaved families of those who lost their lives as well as to the people of the United States of America," the Ministry said.
