Latest on the explosion in Diyarbakir, Turkey
20:40 (GMT+4) The number of people killed by the explosion in Diyarbakir’s Sur district has reached three, according to the Milliyet newspaper.
All of them are policemen. Three more policemen were injured in the blast.
The number of the injured people has reached nine, NTV reports.
According to preliminary reports, the explosion was caused by an explosive device installed on the roadside near the campus of the Dicle University.
The blast occurred when an armored police car was passing by.
According to Milliyet, several policemen were stuck inside the car mangled by the explosion. Employees of the Emergency Situations Ministry and firefighters are working at the site.
19:03 (GMT+4) An explosion occurred in Turkey’s southeastern city of Diyarbakir, the NTV channel reported Jan. 16.
Reportedly, the blast occurred in the city’s Sur district, where the Dicle University campus is located.
One policeman was killed and other seven people were injured as a result of the explosion. The condition of some injured people is serious.
The cause of the explosion is unknown yet.
