Construction of a road bridge over Botan river is nearing completion in Turkey’s Bitlis province, Trend reports referring to Turkish media Nov. 6.
The length of the Botan bridge is 450 meters and height is 165 meters.
The bridge’s construction began in 1970, but was interrupted for a number of technical and financial reasons.
“The construction of the Botan bridge was resumed in 2015 and is expected to be fully completed in December 2019,” the report said.
The cost of the construction project wasn’t disclosed.
According to Turkish General Directorate of Highways, as of January 2019, there were 8,187 bridges in Turkey, the total length of which is 470,815 meters.
