Baku, Azerbaijan, Dec.9
By Azad Hasanli - Trend:
Firefighting continues at Azerbaijan's Guneshli offshore field, director general of SOCAR's Azneft production union Dashgin Isgandarov said at the press conference Dec.9.
"Currently, five boats are extinguishing the fire," he said. "Currently, we are trying to extinguish the fire at four gas wells."
Vice president of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) Khalik Mammadov also addressed the press conference.
Search for the missing 26 oil workers (23 oilmen at Azerbaijan's Guneshli field and three at Oil Rocks) continues, Mammadov said.
He noted that adverse weather conditions complicate the search for the missing.
After receiving treatment, the injured oil workers will be able to return to the work if their health allows, said Mammadov.
Currently, the oilmen are receiving medical treatment after which their health conditions will be assessed, he added.
"The oilmen, who became disabled as a result of the accident, will be receiving disability allowances and insurance payments from the insurance company," said the SOCAR vice-president.
Answering reporters' questions about how long should the search continue for the missing people according to the laws, Mammadov said that a court should make a decision on this matter, but despite that the search will continue until the end.
