The output of Iran's Pars Wagon Company located in Arak city in the central province of Markazi has decreased to one third due to the workers' strike.

IRNA News Agency reported on Dec. 27 that the workers started their strike on Dec. 24.
Pars Wagon Company has around 830 workers.

Mohammad Mohamadi, the managing director of the company, said that the workers' strike has nothing to do with financial problems.

The workers want the former head of the Islamic Council of the company to return to work. Ali Derakhshande's contract expired last week but the company refused to renew it. The workers believe that decision was made because the ex-head of the Islamic Council was pursuing the legal rights of the workers.

Wagon Pars is an Iranian train manufacturing company established in Arak in 1974.

The company's products include locomotives, trains, metros, freight and fuel wagons, and equipment for aircraft.

The workers of the company have recently staged numerous strikes, mainly because of not receiving their wages.
