The Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) in a statement has announced that it is ready for an all-out collaboration with president-elect Hassan Rohani's administration, ISNA reported.

The statements reads: The IRGC congratulates the Supreme Leader, the Iranian nation, and the president-elect, for the political epic of massive turnout in the presidential election which proved their loyalty to the Islamic Revolution and announces its readiness to cooperate with the next administration fully in the frame of its legal obligations.

The IRGC, which under Iran's constitution is tasked with "guarding the Revolution and its achievements," constitutes the backbone of clerical rule in Iran and is controlled directly by Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

The IRGC plays the key role in security, intelligence and military matters. It has grabbed a large portion of Iran's economy, especially in the oil and gas industries, and its former commanders occupy numerous government posts. As a result, most trade and oil contracts signed by Iran necessarily involve the IRGC.

Yesterday, the Iranian Supreme Leader thanked the Iranian people for their huge turnout in June 14 presidential election.

Ayatollah Khamenei also congratulated Hassan Rouhani for his victory in the election.

He said the vote was another landmark test that once again showed the determination of Iran to the nation's friends and enemies.

Ayatollah Khamenei also said that by participating in the vote, the great Iranian nation displayed its capacity in prudently dealing with the "hegemonic powers" psychological warfare against the nation.

He also said that by voting the people ensured their country's national interests.

Ayatollah Khamenei further said the president-elect is the president of all Iranians and all people should help him and his colleagues in their efforts to achieve their lofty goals.

In total 36,704,156 votes have been counted which marked a 72.7 per cent turn out. Based on the results Reformist Candidate Hassan Rohani was elected as the country's next president with 18,613,329 votes.
