The legislation with regard to the allocation of funds from the state budget of Azerbaijan to Public Television amended.
The parliamentary committee on culture, discussed changes to the law On Public Television and Radio Broadcasting at the meeting held on Wednesday.
When the Public Television was created, it was assumed that the allocation of budget funds will be suspended after some time and the company will be exist at the expense of the business and revenues from subscription fees, Committee Chairman Nizami Jafarov said at the meeting.
"The funding sources of the Public Broadcasting Service include the funds allocated from the state budget," he said.
In accordance with the change proposed to article 23 of the Law on Public Television and Radio funds allocated from the state budget is included to the finance sources of public service broadcasting.
Expressing confidence that future profits will be received from subscribers of Public Television, the deputy chairman Rafael Huseynov stressed that it is still impossible today.
The bill recommended for consideration at the plenary session of the Parliament of Azerbaijan.
